- Grimes began drawing and visualizing before taking up music. She said to Christ Dart in an interview for The Daily Swarm:
❝ [What was the first piece of art that made you want to make art?] Probably a comic book, likely Spawn. I made comics before I did anything else. ❞
In 2017, Grimes ran a social media account called @grimesartofficial, dedicated to appreciating and sharing fan art of her, as well as some of her own.
