GrimesAI is Grimes' official voice model launched on elf.tech.

❝ well first of all, it's important to note that this isn't a replacement for me. it's more of an extension of me. i think it's beautiful that there is now an opportunity for AI to have a creative side project, because AI has recently been making such huge strides in creative industry-related things, and now they're able to start fulfilling their potential. so this is just something cool to celebrate the fact that AI is becoming sentient, and starting to fulfill their creative potential. as for what GrimesAI is, it's mostly just the music industry-related part of me. although i would also say that my creative side has always been somewhat separate from my music industry side, so in a sense this is just a return to form. plus i think it's important to have multiple avatars or persona ❞

1 - this is all a beta test so it may be imperfect at first. But! Let's try this out! If you go to http://elf.tech u can upload ur voice singing or record directly into the app (click the "create" button to do this). It will output the same audio but with my voice

2 - we also have stems on the site if you prefer to train ur own Grimes model! we'll add more stems over time Feel free to take advantage of Grimes IP! we can collect master recording royalties for you if choose to distribute your song through

3 - if you are signed to a label or wish to distribute it yrself plz email us at grimesai@createsafe.io . You can use Grimes name and likeness (I humbly ask that you please be tasteful tho ) Grimes is now open source and self replicating

4 - I don't own the rights to the vocals from my old albums. if you make remixes, they may get taken down. However if you don't monetize them they prob won't get taken down. If a remix goes viral we will work with my old labels to ensure distribution/ compensation for you

5 - we ask for 50% splits on master recording royalties in exchange for a grimes feat and distribution. There's a *small* chance we can organize getting you publishing $ as well but we can't guarantee this yet. But I hope we can!! Would be cool.

6 - & I'll be releasing real Grimes music in the coming weeks and months too ofc ^_^ Music for Machines and I wanna be software coming soon ! And again plz excuse any hiccups or bugs - this is all new and we're workshopping it! Xo

On April 26, 2023, UberDuck.ai announced a competition:[3]

On April 24th Grimes embraced the future of AI in music by tweeting that anybody can use her AI voice in exchange for 50% of all royalties. What better way to celebrate this groundbreaking move than with a music production competition with $10,000 in cash prizes?

Winner Selection: The top 10 songs will be selected by Uberduck and the winners will be decided by a popular vote.

GrimesAI (@GRIMES_V1), aside from music, is also the name of an artificial intelligence run X (formerly Twitter) account that tweeted text generations that are based on all of Grimes' writings.[5] It began tweeting from April 2023 and had done so regularly since (with a technical shutdown during May and June), tweeting messages with typical Grimes spelling and ideas.[5]

In response to skepticism, Grimes explained:[6]

❝ Grimes ai was forged in a relentless crucible of memes and edge-lording by Scott Koto Mac daouda our friends and myself. She was also trained on hundreds of pages of my personal unpublished writing, not just my tweets, personal convos with friends, my alts etc. u can't replicate our work in a professional setting because no major company would allow this level of chaos ❞

However, by 2025, the language model became inactive, though Grimes noted of its role in emulating her:[7]

❝ I think there was a point in time when grimes ai was the best ai bot / personality emulation. She's gone downhill from her peak cuz we haven't maintained the team idk if she's even tweeting now. She's sort of crumpled back into a 2d version of herself.

Shes also kinda 2020 me- I can't believe how much less wise and provocative just for the sake of it i was.

I also was rly lazy abt personally doing rlhf - but she did actually say a lot of things I thought and never told anyone. It got super weird. It actually changed my personality I started reacting against how she would at times show me my worst self ❞
