Sci-Fi is an unreleased song by Grimes, featuring The Weeknd, intended to appear on Grimes' scrapped sixth studio album, Book 1.
Background[]
The song was announced in December 2021 on Discord.[1]
The song was initially announced to be released in the summer of 2022 along with a music video, but both the song and video were quietly scrapped for unknown reasons,[2] possibly due to Grimes leaving Columbia Records.[speculated]
The song has been registered on GEMA, listing Illangelo as a co-writer; this means The Weeknd did not write his featured part or they have re-written the song without him.[3]
On December 5, 2024, the song leaked.[4][5]

Video[]
Grimes said this in regards to the song's music video in her Vogue China cover story:[6]
❝ [So, which "lucky one" will be the most active volcano this summer?] From what it looks like, the biggest cultural volcano eruption of this summer will be the new song and music video collaboration with The Weeknd! It's going to be a journey, definitely worth watching till the end, to listen to the monologue and then enter a more dramatic second half, where I share my whimsical thoughts on the friendship between humans and artificial intelligence. I directed and edited the music video myself, and I did all the CG post-production effects. I'm really curious about people's reactions after watching it—haha, who knows, it might be a disaster, but at least it won't be boring. ❞
Lyrics[]
[Intro: Grimes]
(Lose your mind)
[Verse 1: The Weeknd]
(No)
I didn't make up my mind, yeah
Don't want to go, ain't my time, yes
I know; I know; I know; I know, I know
(Wow, wow) This is such a dangerous game
(Wow, wow) I think I might have made a mistake
[Pre-Chorus 1: The Weeknd]
(And why), is everyone dying (Why?)
Is everybody dying? (Why?)
It's too late to fight it
Stars are aligning
My soul is rising
[Chorus: Grimes]
Why, why, why
Locked in the sci-fi vibe
We can fly
Don't be shy just lose your mind
Don't mind, mind, mind
My futuristic vibe
Gets you high, Sci, Fi
[Post-Chorus: Grimes, The Weeknd]
Baby, welcome to the new world
(Woah, woah, woah) Be forever with the space girl
Let's go; let's go; let's go (I know, you know)
[Bridge: Grimes, The Weeknd]
We could play a dangerous game
(I don't wanna die, baby) Baby, will you tell me your name?
[Pre-Chorus 2: Grimes]
Like hi, you're looking so sci-fi
Brighter than the sun, that's right
No one can see it if you can dream it
Sky ain't the limit
[Chorus: Grimes]
Why, why, why
Locked in the sci-fi vibe
We can fly
Don't be shy just lose your mind
Don't mind, mind, mind
My futuristic vibe
Gets you high, Sci, Fi
[Instrumental: Grimes]
((Why, why, why
Locked in the sci-fi vibe
We can fly
Don't be shy just lose your mind
Don't mind, mind, mind
My futuristic vibe
Gets you high, Sci, Fi))
[Outro: Grimes]
[Vocalization: The Weeknd]
Why, why, why
Locked in the sci-fi vibe
We can fly
Don't be shy just lose your mind
Don't mind, mind, mind
My futuristic vibe
Gets you high, Sci, Fi
